Use Promotional Pop-Ups
If you think about your own consumer experiences, you’ll have often seen pop-ups promoting sales & discount codes as soon as you hit the landing page of your favourite online retailers – & you should be doing this too.
Ideally, you want this to be showcased within the first five seconds of a user landing on your website as you want to instantly grab their attention and turn them into a customer. Remember to also include a great linking structure so they don’t have to waste time navigating your sale section, for example.
You can also use this method to build your email subscriber list. Encourage users to enter their email address to gain a discount on their first order, after all, you reap what you sow. Think of adding a pop up as planting the seed.
Incorporate A Live-Chat Feature
There is nothing worse than not being able to receive direct help when having trouble making a purchase online – especially when the only way of contacting a business is through an email.
To be the hero in a user’s time of need, add a live chat feature to your site & have a dedicated team (or team member) on hand during your opening hours to respond to user queries & questions.
For instant communication, we’d also recommend setting up a number of automated messages based upon your FAQs as sufficient & quick service is sure to win you a number of customers.
Have A Good Navigation Structure
Your navigation structure should have been well-thought-out well before you even began the development of your site – with ease being at the heart of it.
Should you be currently building yours, put yourself in the mind of the users & think about the kind of flow you’d want (or expect to follow) when online shopping.
You don’t want to overcomplicate it, but say for example if you’re an online retailer, & using your women’s shoe section as an example, you’d want it to look like a little something like this:

Utilise Past Customer Reviews
As we’ve touched on in previous blogposts, there’s nothing greater than the power of discussion when it comes to generating a larger user pool.
