#MBM Turns 13 Today!
The Myk Baxter Marketing journey began 13 years ago when I opened my first office in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. While working on my marketing strategies in search of new clients, I read the book “The Four Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferris, which helped me to find my footing and what back then was fundamentally the foundation of my own and MBM’s thought process.
Not long after, I saw a tough period in my life after my mum passed, which saw me realigning my business and moving back to Southeast Asia in April 2011, developing the brand internationally and launching MBM Asia.
The launch was more successful than I imagined, with clients from across the world reaching out to MBM for digital marketing and web development services, especially as I was literally in the middle of the world with great connections.
In 2015, once my network was well established in Asia, I returned to the UK. I relocated to London to again provide our international-standard services to clients at home. However, looking for bigger clients in the city!
By 2017, MBM was balancing clients from around the world, and I decided to return to Southeast Asia and manage the business from the sunny beaches of Thailand.
However, the business hit large financial losses due to a huge economic crisis to hit the region in 2018 after an international investment went wrong. I had to return home again to old blighty & start from scratch. And by that, I mean looking for jobs and sofa surfing. I was literally at rock bottom. Lost everything!
Although a knock to both our clients and my pride, I decided to fight on for the business I am so passionate about, and in just one year, we were already bouncing back, and we’re going from strength to strength. However, I have had a lot of personal challenges and near misses.
The birth of my Daughter, Amber, in 2020 also inspired me to work even harder on myself and my business to ensure her future is as great as possible.
As we turn 13 in the unpredictable year of 2023, MBM is moving its focus to support the hundreds of clients rushing into the e-commerce industry. I would like to thank all of our clients, both past and present, our partners, and my team as we continue to follow this incredible journey together.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not been an easy ride, and we/I have only survived thanks to strong friendships, trusting partnerships and clients – a business like MBM will go through peaks and troughs without any business partners or investment, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It keeps me on my toes and means we provide the best service to our clients no matter the situation outside.
Happy Wednesday as we raise a toast to another record-breaking year so far at #MykBaxterMarketing!
