From a study run by Hootsuite in January 2022, you may be amazed to know that 5.31 billion mobile phone users across the globe – which if you do the maths is 67.1% of the entire population!
Crazy right?!
Bearing this in mind, it’s now more important than ever that when designing your business website that you make it compatible with today’s most popular devices, both tablets and smartphones as you only want your customers to stick around and to have an easy-breezy experience.
In today’s blogpost, we’ll be sharing with you our top tips on how you do just that with the end goal of helping you achieve a higher ROI.
#1 Keep things as fuss-free & simple as possible.
Whilst you want to design a website that is captivating and eye-catching, be sure to not overcomplicate your design structure by straying away from busy rolling feeds, heavy content (in some cases, such as on your homepage) and cluttered image galleries.
Put yourself in the mind of the users and identify the elements that you would most want to see, or what would make you close the web tab. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind or share your ideas directly with your developer (if you have one) too, as they’ll only want to bring your true vision to life.
#2 Perfect your navigation structure
A great navigation menu is key to helping your customers find the product or service they are looking for as most often or not they want it then & now!
Early on in the design process, take the time to identify the main and subsections of your navigation menu and ensure that it’s easy to understand & well categorised, especially if for example you’re an online fashion retailer.
We also advise adding numerous call to action buttons across your site for when customers need to contact you, find out more information & return back to your homepage (to be super tech-savvy you could even link this to your logo).
#3 Test, Test, Test!
Whilst the exact mobile optimisation of the site may not happen just before the site goes live, it’s important that it is properly tested on all devices before it is. Again, put yourself in the mind of your customer. Navigate yourself through your menus, test your payment gateways & ensure that it looks neat too.
Don’t be afraid to also give feedback to your developer if any issues arise.
